Q.
Can I save my shopping cart if I am not ready to purchase?
A.
Yes, you can save your shopping cart with your profile information and retrieve it when you return to the site.
Q.
How will you ship my item(s)?
A.
Most items are shipped UPS Ground Delivery. If alternate shipping is availble for an item, then those options will be displayed at check-out.
Q.
How long can Maytag foil wrapped blue cheese be kept in the refrigerator without spoiling?
A.

Our wedges should be fine in the refrigerator for 6-8 weeks.   Our blue is a natural cheese, it will naturally bloom on the cut surfaces after an extended period of refrigeration but is not harmful.   Some prefer a bloomy rind on their blue cheese but others prefer to remove by scraping or giving the cut surface a fresh trim.

Can cheese be frozen to make it last longer without spoiling the flavor?
A.

Our blue cheese can be kept in the freezer for up to a year.  We suggest that you remove the plastic seal, leaving our signature foil in tact.  Place the wheel or wedge in a freezer Ziploc bag and expel the excess air.  When you are ready to use our cheese, simply thaw overnight in the refrigerator.

How do I best use the square cheese preserver I ordered with my 1 oz. wedges?
A.

With the 1oz. wedges, the square preserver will hold 18 wedges.   They are so fragile, I prefer to leave them fully wrapped in the original foil and layer them as they were in the box, facing opposite directions.  While still in the foil, they should be fine without water in the bottom as long as you keep the lid on.

Do you offer Tours of your Facility?

Our tours do not take you through our cheesemake room but we do have a video of our process, a walking tour overlooking the farm, the packaging department where Maytag Blue is handwrapped in our signature foil and ends with free sampling in the retail cheese shop. 

We hope you'll stop by and visit our farm when in the area.

How do I dispose of any freezer gel packs included in my shipment?
A.

The gel packs, which may be included in your order, are reusable and can be stored frozen or ambient and reused as a long lasting gel pack.

The product is non-toxic and water soluble and can be disposed of in normal trash collection.

Can all of your cheeses be frozen?
A.

The only cheese we recommend freezing is our Blue Cheese, which can be frozen up to a year.

Do you sell replacement lids that fit the glass containers?
A.

Although the lids are not listed on the web, we do sell them individually.

Can I use my Maytag Dairy Farms Gift Certificate when ordering on-line?
A.

To redeem your gift card you will need to call us at 1-800-247-2458.  Our office hours are 8:00 - 5:00 Monday - Friday and 9:00 to 4:00 on Saturday.

Where are you located and what do you have to offer?
A.

We have a retail store at our farm, where you can see a video, tour the packing and shipping areas and sample and purchase our cheese.

We are open 8:00 - 5:00 on weekdays and 9:00 to 4:00 on Saturday.   If your group contains 10 or more people please let us know what time you plan to arrive, otherwise tours are available at your convenience.

Q.
I would like to place an order to be shipped to multiple addresses. Can I do that on line?
A.

Our web site is somewhat unique in allowing for multiple shipping addresses and delivery dates.  Most of our customers have found that the best way to add the same item to the cart for multiple people is to add them with a quantity of 1.  Then within the shopping cart define the different shipping addresses and delivery methods/dates. 

You may also email us a list of the recipients and the desired packages or call us at 1-800-247-2458 and we would be happy to take your order.

What are the shipping charges to Canada?
A.

You can order on-line from Canada, but if you are shipping to Canada we prefer that you contact us via phone so we can quote the correct shipping charges and delivery expectations.

Are your cheese items sold locally in my area?
A.

We do make our cheeses available to our wholesalers.  Unfortunately, we don't know which specific stores those wholesalers distribute our products to.

What brand of crisps do you serve your cheeses on?
A.

Recently we changed to a thin crisp wafer called 34 degree.  They are available in different flavors but we use the Natural which have no flavor to interfere with our cheese.   You can also order them online afrom us at maytagdairyfarms.com or by calling 1-800-247-2458
